The Red Sox dropped a 7-4 decision to the Rays Friday night at Fenway Park in a game that was highlighted by a bench-clearing altercation in the ninth inning.
Taking the loss for the Red Sox was starting pitcher Jon Lester, who gave up a grand slam to Matt Joyce in the third inning, along with two more home runs, from Eliot Johnson and Carlos Pena, one inning later. Lester finished his outing allowing seven runs on six hits, walking three while throwing 81 pitches over four innings.
